The North Cape is a great attraction which is visited by thousands of tourists from all over the world
each year. The North Cape plateau itself rises 307 meters almost vertically from the Arctic Ocean.

Bird Safari – Gjesværstappan
One of the biggest bird cliffs in Norway is located due west of the North Cape and is home to an
impressive variety of species. Almost 1 million puffins live there, along with numerous northern
gannets, cormorants, kittiwakes, common guillemots and northern fulmars.
Kirkeporten - The Church Gate
Kirkeporten is a natural rock formation shaped like an arch. Through it, you can look over the
Mefjord to the North Cape, with its renowned North Cape Horn. In pre-Christian times, Kirkeporten
and the North Cape Horn were both traditional Sami places of sacrifice. Tourists visiting the North
Cape who have a little extra time on their hands can enjoy a quiet moment here at the world's end.
The Midnight Sun- day that never ends!
That phenomenon, known as The Midnight Sun, is caused by the tilt of the Earth’s axis in relation to
its orbit around the sun – as a result, at both North and South poles, the sun only sets and rises one
day every year. In North Norway the summer months of June and July are the months where the
Midnight Sun is at its strongest but the further north you go, the longer the sun stays above the
horizon. In the North Cape you can experience a full midnight sun from 14 May - 29 July.
Northen Lights – An unforgettable experience!
The bright dancing lights of the aurora are actually collisions between electrically charged particles
from the sun that enter the earth's atmosphere. The lights are seen above the magnetic poles of
the northern and southern hemispheres.
